The day was early to break for the special representative of the Head of State, Minister Rene Emmanuel Sadi whose activities in Bamenda started with breakfast offered by the SDF, National Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi
in his Ntarinkon residence. He later sized up the level of construction work at the new Governor's Office in the neighbourhood of Up Station before preaching the virtues of peace before, during and after the September 30, 2013 legislative and municipal elections.
The event was an ecumenical service for peace initiated by the Fons of the North West. It was a special moment for the nation with prayers that inspire love for one another, love for Cameroon, and tolerance in a God fearing nation. Mr Sadi travelled to Bamenda with a message of peace and encouragement from President Biya, a great man of peace. In effect, the nation faces another democratic challenge on September 30, 2013 and the Minister saluted the North West for demonstrating a sense of patriotism and responsibility in organizing the inter-religious service for peace to reign. He said peace and social cohesion are important for social progress and development and it was good to pray so that elections should not constitute a threat to social peace like elsewhere around Africa.
Setting the tone, the President of the North West Fon's Union, Senator, Fon Teche Njei II decried the warring attitude of some traditional rulers of the region. The prayer time featured the Imam, Baptist, Presbyterian and Catholic ministers of the church stressing the need for intensification of prayers for the divine gift of peace to reign and for justice to be exercised by ELECAM in the organisation of the elections. Away from that, the Government Delegate to the Bamenda city council, Ndumu Nji Vincent sounded off about fairplay in the city with the CPDM and SDF parties living and operating in tandem for the economic emergence of people and neighbourhoods. Fru Jonathan, an elite and messenger of the Fons urged traditional rulers to practise and not only preach peace. He said that accepting the verdict of the September 30 polls is the gate way to demonstrate political maturity. Curtains dropped on the event with Fons stating the commitment to stand by President Biya's leadership, in recognition of his concern for the region. Around in the Bamenda Congress Hall to cheer the event included elite like Senator, Simon Achidi Achu, Minister Nji Paul Atanga, Dr Fonkam Azu'u, Prof. Tafah Edokat, Ni John Fru Ndi, Anna Foncha.
