The transitional President of the Central African Republic (CAR), Michel Djotodia on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 sent a sealed message to his Cameroonian counterpart Paul Biya. Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang, on behalf of President Biya received the message from the special envoy of the Central African Republic, Idriss Salao, Minister, Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the President of CAR for onward transmission.

Talking to reporters after the audience, Idriss Salao who led a four-member delegation disclosed that his country will want direct contacts between their defence forces with those of Cameroon to secure the borders and also the Douala-Bangui transport corridor. He said the Douala seaport was vital for the economy of the Central African Republic. He said that "when a country of the sub-region is sick, it can contaminate others". President Djotodia and the government of CAR, he said, were highly appreciative of the support Cameroon was giving to secure peace in their country. He cited the presence of a contingent from Cameroon in the inter-African force in Bangui, adding that from December 18, 2013, the operational command of the force will be occupied by a General of the Cameroonian defence forces. He said CAR wanted multidimensional support of the international community to secure the country.
