According to the terms of the agreement, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) will accompany the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) to achieve its objective of protecting endangered species in protected areas.

The MoU serves as an opportunity to formalise the existing cooperation between both ministries since MINDEF has been training the eco guards of the MINFOF for a period of time already.

The Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Ngole Philip Ngwese expressed satisfaction with the signing of the agreement.

It was a similar feeling for Defense Minister, Joseph Beti Assomo who noted that the MoU will permit his Ministry to assist the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife in the surveillance of protected areas, the acquisition and use of arms and the construction and maintenance of infrastructure in protected areas, as well as in reinforcing the capacity of eco guards.
