Public Service Ministry, UNDP partner to provide service guidlines

The Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms and UNDP have partnered to develop guidelines for service provision.

Concerned about the quality of services provided to the public, the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms (MINFOPRA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are working out means and ways of improving service delivery.

In this light, members of the Support Programme for the Improvement of Services Rendered to the Public (PAAQSU) met on Thursday, September 3, 2015 in Yaoundé.

Chaired by the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Michel Ange Angouing, participants at the meeting admitted that the quality of service delivery in public offices in the country still leaves much to be desired. This is more so as public services, which ought to be free, are often paid for.

With the assistance of the National Agency for Norms and Standards (ANOR) the civil society and other ministries, PAAQSU members discussed and approved guidelines for service provision in public offices. Yet, the guidelines will take into consideration gender and physical ability.

The objective is to ensure that public office users are henceforth provided accurate information and treated courteously. It is for this reason that government signed an agreement with UNDP for the implementation of the Whitepaper on Growth and Employment for 2010-2020 and the United Nations Development Assistance Framework, (UNDAF) for 2013-2017.
