REDD to check corruption in gov't and public bodies

On August 14, at the initiative of Transparency International Cameroon (TI - C) Yaoundé hosted members of civil society who had to develop a map of the organizations and persons involved in the REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries) in Cameroon.

Promoted within the UN framework, REDD is a mechanism to encourage developing countries to protect their forest resources, improve management and make judicious use, thus contributing to the global fight against climate change. According to TI - C, the complexity of the process in the Cameroonian context and the large number of interested actors control what it accurately identifies.

Lucain Nyassi Tchakounté, responsible for programs at the service of research and development of TI - C adds that at the same time, this database on stakeholders will facilitate through collaboration, identification of practices which need to be addressed. In its local application, since last year, REDD aims to fight corruption in the Government and public bodies as in private companies.

She is also interested in this phenomenon in public procurement reduction and major projects. Also, is it to TI - C, one of the priority actions included in the agenda of this NGO.
