"The violence of the aggression suffered by Elie Smith and his sister is profoundly shocking, we urge the authorities to act in the shortest time possible in order to stop the aggressors and to identify the perpetrators".

This is the reaction of Virginia Virginie Dangles, assistant to the Research Branch of the organization Reporters without borders. She denounced the attack on the journalist Elie Smith and his younger sister in the night of 9 to September 10, 2014 in their home in Brazzaville in Congo.

According to Reporters without Borders, the other journalists did not consider what happened as burglary. The police is suspected of being behind these actions.

They did not appreciate the freedom of tone of Smith who animated a hit show called "The great interview" on the string Mntv. One learns that the publication of the photo of an activist in blood beaten by the police officers as a result of the output of a meeting with the opposition September 7, 2014 on its facebook page has not been well.

"I would not like to speculate. I covered the meeting with the opposition. I took photos and I have a post of an activist in blood on Facebook. I only did my work as a journalist. It was a scoop", explains the journalist.

He said he had often been threatened with death and announced his intention to file a complaint. The aggression against Elie Smith comes at a time when the debate on the revision of the limitation of presidential mandates is amplified in the Congo.
