Heads of Elections Cameroon (Elecam) at regional, departmental and municipal level (360 communes) have doubled efforts towards the revision of the electoral lists for the year 2014 scheduled to close by Sunday.

Recently, the regional delegation of Elecam for the Centre, the head of the communication service, documentation and archives, Michèle Mekeme, revealed that about 11 000 new voters have already been registered. The regional delegate for the Centre, Brigitte Madeleine Ntsama Amougou, carried out field works, just as heads of agencies and branches of Elecam; each in its area of competence, she added.

These teams in the field are supported by the service of communication within the awareness framework that extends to rural areas, including locations at fort electoral potential. "As it is not in an election year, communication is oriented mainly towards youth. They have to benefit from school holidays to convince them to go and register on the electoral lists", explained Michèle Mekeme.

Few days to the closing of the transaction, proximity communication is carried out. Spots in commonly spoken languages are broadcasted on CRTV Centre antennas to wake up laggards, according to our source.

According to provisions of section 74 of the Cameroonian electoral Code, electoral lists are permanent and are subject to an annual review which began on 1 January and ends on 31 August, throughout the national territory. The revision of the lists of electors revolves around two major axes; upgrading the election file and editing it.
