Russian Gov't pledges support to refugees in Cameroon

Russia has promised to provide food for refugees and equipment for the fire fighting brigade as effort to support Cameroon in its management of refugees and displaced persons.

Territorial Administration and Decentralisation Minister, Rene Emmanuel Sadi and Russian Vice-Minister in charge of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), Yuri Brazhnikov elaborately discussed on the donation during a working session this 19th February, 2015.

Yuri Brazhnikov explained that his meeting with Minister Rene Emmanuel Sadi was to revisit cooperation in the domain of civil protection and sympathise with Cameroonian.

The move, he reiterated was to sympathise and support Cameroon as the country manages refugees in the East region.

In this light, the material to be donated to the fire fighting brigade will include rescue and safety equipment like water purification systems and compressors while the refugees will receive 8500 tons of flour and 340 tons of oil.

A first portion of 35 tons of oil have already reached Cameroon and the remainder set to arrive in the days ahead.

The Russian Vice-Minister was accompanied to the working session by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cameroon, H.E. Nicolay Ratsiborinski and other Russian officials.
