SDF asks for the FESTAC Budget

A Limbe district of the Social democratic Front, SDF party, is calling on the City Council to publish the budget of this year’s Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture.

In a communique signed by the district chair, Zama Godden Ndengen, the party is accusing the council of fraud, adding that it is wrong for such a major event of the city council to be shrouded in secrecy.

According to the chairman, “What we are asking for is a detailed budget for the event and what portion of the budget was financed through tax payers’ money.”

In a press conference organized by the city council ahead of this year’s edition of Limbe FESTAC, the Government Delegate, Andrew Motanga Mojimba, was quizzed on the budget used in organizing the financially project.

In response, Motanga simply said it was not necessary to disclose the budget.

The celebration was in its third edition this April.

The city council has never for once disclosed its budget nor give a balance sheet of how funds are raised and used.
