The National Executive Committee (NEC), of the opposition SDF party has adopted a budget of CFA 100 Million for its 25th anniversary due May 26.

Last Saturday’s NEC meeting at Fru Ndi’s Ntarinkon residence created 13 committees to oversee the event and conspicuous among them was the peace and reconciliation committee which The Journal gathered will be chaired by the party’s Shadow cabinet minister of Youth and Social Affairs, Paul Nkwi.

While the committees are yet to settle down to work, Joseph Mbah Ndam, one of SDF’s MPs, told The Cameroon Journal that the anniversary will be another strong moment in the life of the party when the doors are wide opened for those militants who left for greener pastures elsewhere but never found it to return and join the ranks of the party.

“The doors of the party are always open. When you faulter and realise along the line that you faultered, the party is always ready for reconciliation,” Mbah Ndam said.

Events commemorating the 25th anniversary program start on May 16 with a press conference in Yaounde by John Fru Ndi, the National Chairman. The rest of the program features debates, roundtables and book exhibitions tracing the evolution of the party since its birth on May 26, 1990. It will culminate with major celebrations on May 26 in Bamenda, the birth place of the party.

A previous NEC meeting of last March we learnt, brainstormed on the possibilities of acquiring a permanent party headquarters, but sources hinted The Journal that at last Saturday’s conclave the item no longer featured on the agenda.
