The cold hands of death have snatch the very buoyant and energetic staff representative of the National Oil Refining Company, SONARA, Baboka Banaka Jean Pierre. He died in the early hours of Sunday, January 18 as he was being rushed to the hospital.
He is reported to have collapsed at his residence at about 8am and was rushed to the hospital when he gave up the ghost.
At the Limbe Regional Hospital mortuary where his corpse was laid, SONARA workers were spotted wailing and consoling his family members.
The late Staff representative of the 2nd college worked with the Audit Department of the company.
Ngalle Ngomba Eric, another Staff representative who works with the Production unit, told The SUN at the Mortuary that he has been a very strong trade unionist and instrumental in the collective convention signed by the Minister of Labour and Social Security.
His last public event was the ceremony to award Labour medals to meritorious staff at SONARA last Thursday, January 15 during which he introduced the staff representative who addressed the minister and went further to greet the general manager on behalf of the workers.
