The Kingdom's 81st National Day was celebrated in Yaounde on September 23, 2013.

It is already over 80 years since the various parts of what is today known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded by His Majesty, King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, on September 23, 1932.

In order to remember the achievements of such unity, the new Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency, Mohammed Suliman Almussher, held a reception at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel to which diplomats and national dignitaries were invited. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Almussher said his country has since made strides in education, transport, health, international trade, etc, thus enabling it to occupy an important position in the committee of nations today.

Describing relations between Saudi Arabia and Cameroon as good, the diplomat recalled how his country is supporting the construction of the Sangmelima-Djoum Road in the South Region at the cost of 10 million US Dollars (about FCFA 4.9 billion). It also offers scholarships to Cameroonian students and recently donated 200 metric tonnes of dates to flood victims in the northern part of the country. Expressing satisfaction with his welcome in the country since taking up duties, Ambassador Mohammed Suliman Almussher promised to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Among senior government officials at the National Day celebration were the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Amadou Ali and Finance Minister, Alamine Ousmane Mey. The event also saw the cutting of the anniversary cake.
