Ahead of the 2013/2014 academic year, the Minister of Basic Education Mrs Youssouf née Hadidja Alim on August 21, chaired a meeting of officials.
Drawn from central and devolved services of the ministry, discussions focussed on strategies of pre-school development, objectives and stakes of literacy in non-formal basic education and the promotion of national languages. The Minister of Basic Education said the meeting was an opportunity to make a balance sheet of the 2012/2013 academic year while planning for a smooth 2013/2014 school year.
Issues such as the lack of teachers in some schools and compulsory PTA fees in some schools were also examined. Mrs Youssouf née Hadidja Alim stressed on measures for an effective pedagogic supervision stating that the new missions of the ministry demand the drawing up of new strategies.
