School identity cards now obligatory for pupils in the West

The procedure was put in place by officials of Basic Education as part of strategies to fight against insecurity during a preparatory meeting towards the opening of the new school.

The decision which was taken on Thursday 27th August 2015 includes all Primary school pupils from class one to six.

According to Basic Education authorities, the school year which begins on 7th September 2015 nationwide will kick off in the West Region with strict and rigorous application of security measures in all schools and environs.

The Regional Delegate of Basic Education for the West, reiterated that the issuing of school identity cards to pupils is just one amongst other measures put in place to identify pupils as well as their true guardians.

The issuing of the identity cards is currently going on in all primary schools in the West Region.
