Top officials in charge of defence and security have taken part in the second security meeting organized on the instructions of the Head of State, Paul Biya.
The Yaoundé meeting was presided over by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo.
The Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguelle, Military Generals including commanders the four military regions and senior officers of the Gendarmerie heading the Gendarmerie Regions were present at the meeting that focused on evaluating the security situation in the country.
The meeting to that the pulse of the security situation in the country ahead of the 2016 edition of the National Day celebration on 20th May was held behind closed doors.
The in-camera security meeting is being organised at a time when the country is actively involved in the fight against the terrorist group Boko Haram in the Far North Region and the situation in the East region.
According to the agenda the officials examined the situations on the ground in the respective regions and reviewed measures put in place to ensure national security before Presidential prescriptions were handed down to the respective officers by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence.
