Seleka military chief held in Cameroon

Mahamat Aboubakar, believed to be the military commander of the Seleka rebel movement in the Central African Republic is being held in an undisclosed place in Yaounde, neigbouring Cameroon after his arrest in the eastern border town of Ngaoui on April 29, APA can report from security sources Thursday.

Abubakar had fled after clashes on the night of April 24 to 25, 2016, involving his organization with the rival anti-Balaka militia.

He was reported to have crossed into Cameroon through the thick forests in that area.

His presence in the forest was later reported by the local residents to the security authorities in Ngaoui, who rounded him up at Alamdou checkpoint.

According to the regional biweekly paper L’Oeil du Sahel, which confirmed the arrest in its edition issued last Tuesday, Aboubakar Mahamat, was in possession of a register witha list of names of his men, and the sum of FCFA 43,000.
