Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, on Thursday, said Nigeria is at the verge of losing more territories to the Republic of Cameroon.
The Senate Leader, who raised the alarm at Thursday’s plenary, said the country could lose more communities if ongoing international boundary adjustment was not halted.
Ndoma-Egba, who raised the alarm through Order 42 of the Senate Standing Order, said Nigeria may lose some communities in Danari, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.
He also said the exercise, ongoing in parts of his constituency, was already causing anxiety among the people.
“I have information that right now, pursuant to the Green Tree Agreement that resulted in the ceding of Bakassi to Cameroon (in 2008), some boundary adjustment exercise is going on and they are right now in a place called Danari.
“I don’t have the details, but I just thought Nigerians should know that this is going on and this is the anxiety. I am going to the constituency now when I get home. I will get more details and then bring a formal motion on the floor,” he said.
Senate President, David Mark, who presided over the session, agreed with Ndoma-Egba, adding that Nigeria must not lose any part of its territory again under any guise.
