Sierra Leonian football delegation under check

The Cameroon government has enforced security measures against the deadly Ebola Virus, ahead of the Cameroon-Sierra Leone encounter scheduled for Saturday, 11th October 2014.

During a press briefing in Yaounde on 9th October 2014 the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda announced the prohibition of visits to the Sierra Leonian delegation.

Minister Andre Mama Fouda also disclosed that a medical team shall carry out checks in the morning and evening to ensure proper management of any suspected case of the Ebola fever.

In the presence of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma noted that the checks and restrictions are not aimed at stigmatising the august guests but at ensuring a healthy environment.

Health security has been reinforced because Sierra Leone is one of the West African countries greatly hit by the outbreak of the Ebola virus.

Saturday’s match according to CAF schedule was to be played in Sierra Leone but due to the dreaded virus, the encounter was moved to Cameroon.

Meanwhile, the organisation of the match including the sales of entry tickets is being handled by the Sierra Leonian delegation.
