Six heads of state, one head of government and several delegations from the Central African Sub-region attended the extraordinary summit of the Council for Peace and Security in Central Africa, COPAX.
The Heads of State who personally took part at the summit include, the host Cameroonian President, Paul Biya, the interim leader of the Central African Republic, Catherine Samba Panza, the President of Chad, current Chairman of ECCAS, Idriss Deby Itno, the Head of State of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, the President of Gabon, Ali Ben Bongo and leader of Equatorial Guinea, Theodoro Obiang Nguema Mbazogo.
Soa Tome and Principe were represented by the Prime Minster and Head of Government while the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and Angola were represented at the Ministerial level.
Important organisations like the African Union and the United Nations were all represented at the Yaounde extraordinary summit.
The high-level meeting which is increasingly becoming a tradition in the sub-region has been described by both participants as historic and ground-breaking.
Experts however say all these efforts will only yield fruits if Nigeria in particular and the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS, play an active role in this endeavour.
ECCAS Chairman called on all countries, even those that are not affected by terrorism, to come on board if the war against Boko Haram must be won.
