Seized by officials of the Ministry of trade as part of a poor post-harvest practices, the cocoa was brought in Yaoundé.
Sold at 1,330 F per kg, ICG Refrica bought 103 bags of cocoa around 6 tonnes set for sale at the esplanade of the regional delegation of the Ministry of Commerce Friday in Yaoundé. The operation that has been running seven bidders of the central region was held in the presence of the regional delegate of the Ministry of Commerce, Nicanor Zanga Djinang.
The stock of cocoa sold at auction was seized on September 27 during a tour by the control of the regional delegation of the Mincommerce brigade. «Lots were seized due to purchase of cocoa without a professional card, purchase of wet cocoa, cocoa in stores non-certified storage, the sale of cocoa in false weighing and drying before stores», explained Gérôme Foé Amougou, regional controller of the regional delegation of Mincommerce.
To curb these coxage, poor drying, the purchase of wet cocoa (above 8%) outside the periodic markets and the mixture of grade, Nicanor Zanga Djinang, other unannounced raids will be carried out across the country through November 2015, closing date of the campaign.
Beyond the euphoria of the moment, the purchaser has taken the full measure of the task that awaits him: "We will evaluate the physical condition of the beans after which, we will repackage it before export," explained Emmanuel Nlend, agent of the ICG Refrica.
