Workers are demanding the departure of four expatriate officials accusing them of going against the Cameroonian laws and violating their rights. Activities at Cameroonian society of Palm trees (Socapalm) came to a standstill on Monday, September 1, 2014.
Activity had been suspended following a strike movement in Kienké, Edéa, Mbongo/Mbambou, Nkapa and Eséka plantations. Strikers demand "immediate departures" of the Director general Yannick Vernet, Executive Director Dominique Cornet and two other officials of the company Alain Fayd' grass and Nicolas Dutordoir.
They have accused them of "erasing and swallowing folklore laws of the Republic of Cameroon". In their notice of strike, Union leaders explain that the texts are clearly violated at the expense of personnel, which creates a poisonous atmosphere in the plantations.
Life has become impossible since the arrival of Yannick Vernet, Dominique Cornet. According to them, their bosses violated ministerial order No. 018/MTPS/SG/CJ of May 26, 2013, laying down the conditions to be met by the housing provided to workers, the minimum rate and the terms of the compensatory allowance for housing.
They also pointed out the 'violation of article 10 of the rules of procedure which causes huge damage to workers' and demand including "the abolition of sanctions, premiums, loss of gratification". They noted.
