Social Protection: Mutual Assistance Organisations receive a push

Social Security officials in Cameroon are meeting to validate a study aimed at restoring the role of mutual assistance organisations in social protection.

The Secretary General at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security opened the one-day conclave in Yaounde this April 13,2016.

He indicated that mutual assistance organisations can help reduce the deficit in social security coverage which remains very high in the informal sectors and rural areas.

This he noted, necessitates the restructuring of such organisations.

Officials from the International Labour Office are taking part in the meeting.
