Source of Biya's doctored Photo can be traced - Expert

Alain Zingui a computer security expert asserts that it is possible to trace the source of the doctored photo of President Biya paying homage to soldiers who perished in the Boko Haram war on the official website of the presidency.

"If the site was attacked from the outside, there are software tools to identify the IP address that shows the date, time the change it was made and the location the upload was done.

"If it proves that it came from the House, these software tools can tell, who, at what time, the name of the Publisher, since every uploaded article has all these details. And particularly because it was posted on the homepage of the site", he explained in an interview with the daily La Nouvelle Expression.

For the specialist, the hypothesis of hacking of the site put forward by Issa Tchiroma, Minister of Communication is not ruled out. However, the fact that the article in question made several hours on the site before it was noticed is still a problem.

"Before an article is published or placed at the disposal of the general public, there is what we call moderation. The administrator is supposed to moderate to ascertain if the article is accurate, valid or void of errors before it is posted."
