The Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele is leaving no stone unturned in maintaining law and order in Cameroon, ensuring the security of all Cameroonians as well as intensifying the fight against criminality. The recent introduction and constant use of special security bicycles by police officials is an added impetus to create proximity between the forces of law and order and the population.

The National Police Force displayed this major innovation to ensure efficiency in fighting criminality during the march-past at the 20th May Boulevard during the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the National Day. A detachment of the Bicycle Unit of the National Security put up a thrilling performance in demonstrating their resolve for proximity policing intended to deter people from getting into crime. Sources at the Delegation for National Security say the special bicycles; with special tyres can ride to all nooks and crannies in the country, no matter the nature of the road.

Henceforth, lack of petrol and bad nature of roads will cease to be a problem to any police officer called up to maintain peace and order in the country. With the special training that some police officers have undertaken, any police element called up to intervene in times of problems will just need to pick up his bicycle and ride to the scene of event. The resistant nature of the bicycle tyres also permits the forces of law and order to reach the most hidden neighbourhoods to ensure law and order. For now, the police security bicycles are based in Central Police Stations in the towns of Yaounde and Douala from where they can police major junctions and various neighbourhoods in those towns.
