Students in Buea, Southwest region of Cameroon recently took to the street protesting against the rampant power failures that have been common in the town.
In order to show their annoyance, the students erected barricades, threatening to set ablaze the facilities of the company AES- Sonel responsible for the production of electricity.
It was thanks to the intervention of the forces of law and order that these students, writing public exams had to abort their plans of setting the place ablaze.
Many parts of the city have been without electricity for days while others in Molyko(Dirty South) have constant power cuts every day from 8 pm.
According to the AES-Sonel workers, electricity supply cuts have occurred due to a fault on a transformer that was destroyed by the wind.
The students only went home after they were being assured that their problems will be solved.
It should be noted that, Actis a British firm that officially took over from the American Company, AES Corporation on May 23 inherited FCFA 25 billion litigation from AES-SONEL to grapple with.
