The deadline for the submission of documents towards recruitment into the various police ranks launched in December 2014 was on Friday, February 6, 2015.
On that same day, the premises of École nationale supérieure de Police (Ensp) in Yaoundé was still crowded with people trying to submit files.
At the entrance, facilitators offered service, including online registration. "Online registration is among the prerequisites to complete the application. Candidates face very complex challenges at this level including poor internet connection.
The process must be repeated when a file is rejected either because it was improperly completed. So, we are helping candidates to register or correct their record" noted Joël Kenfack, one of the facilitators.
For the only registration centre in Yaoundé, there are approximately 5,000 aspirants who jostle for their file. "I'll admit that we are overstretched. It is not simply about collecting the physical files submitted by the candidates. There is need to control them to ensure that they are complete and that they satisfy all the terms and conditions. There are candidates who get lost and need guidance, and there are many other things to check. But officers delegated to do this task have given their best to attend to everyone" explained a head of the ENSP in Yaoundé.
Due to the difficulties candidates face during registration, Martin Mbarga Nguelé, boss of the Cameroonian Police, has just taken a decision extending from four to fifteen days, the time-limit for the submission of files.
