Teachers workshop held to improve pupils' performance

Primary school teachers have been drilled to improve on pupils’ performance at the First School Leaving Certificate Examination in a two day workshop held at the Ministry of Basic Education in Yaounde.

The Minister of Basic Education Yousouf Hadija Alim who presided over the opening ceremony, urged facilitators of Basic Education to be steadfast in their efforts of ensuring a good teacher pupil Relationship in order to guarantee a better results.

In order for this to be achieved the basic Education family also instituted a 2015 plan of action which is out to periodically check teacher’s performances.

The workshop was also marked by the presentation of other new reforms and the organization of the 2014/2015 session of the First School Leaving Certificate Examination.

For the past years, the Ministry has put in some tools to ensure the generalization of nursery and primary education, the promotion of literacy through the teaching of local languages at the preschool level.

At the end of the workshop, the new reforms are expected to improve teachers’ pedagogy and pupil’s performances.
