Technical failure of the Boeing 767-300 has disrupted flights back and forth Douala to Paris this week posing a real challenge in the works for Camair-Co in recent times.

It was the only aircraft of the national airline that had to land at Addis Ababa on Saturday following a hydraulic failure, inconveniencing 300 passengers on baord. The flight resultantly had to be delayed until next Wednesday.

The plane known as “Dja” recently returned home after undergoing technical revision in Ethiopia. A source confirmed, on Sunday afternoon that there was a serious problem with the hydraulics and equated the occurrence to a car with a flat tyre.

The source tries to explain why, a few days after his release from service, the aircraft is still grounded. According to an aviation technician, a very brief diagnosis was made on site in Cameroon while the unit was on rotations, but it proved inevitable in view of the gravity of failure, which can affect the control system of the aircraft, including the execution.

"We have flown with the device but could not continue because the rate was very low. Comprehensive diagnosis could not be made in Douala because there is not a full body maintenance on site. So we sent the plane to Addis Ababa on Saturday because there, they can simulate flights and better define the fault,"said the technician.

The failures occured during peak flying seasons despite airlines taking precautions at the beginning of the busy period to avoid inconveniences. In Paris, 300 passengers were looking for answers for untimely failure, but management of Camair-Co, which swore in a new CEO on June 25, reassured all that they had been accommodated.
