The Greens call for planting of more trees

The not for Profit environmental protection Nongovernmental Organisation The Greens Friday June 12, 2015 paid an uncommon visit to the office of the Nkwen Water Management Board hosted by the Nkwen Fon’s Palace.

The visit had as objective to hand over 1000 trees to the water management body for the protection of water catchments areas in Nkwen.

In what can be described as a show of satisfaction, The Paramount Ruler of the Nkwen people Fon HRM Azehfor III was present alongside Atangche Vingalla Chairman of the Management Board of the Nkwen Water project, Mayor Fongu Cletus of Bamenda III Council, some notables and agricultural experts to receive the trees from The Greens family.

In what can be described as a show of satisfaction, The Paramount Ruler of the Nkwen people Fon HRM Azehfor III was present alongside Atangche Vingalla Chairman of the Management Board of the Nkwen Water project, Mayor Fongu Cletus of Bamenda III Council, some notables and agricultural experts to receive the trees from The Greens family.

n appreciation, HRM Azehfor III promised The Greens to take proper care of the donations particularly at the time Nkwen has become a major water supplier in Bamenda with the increasing water scarcity in the city.

The Fon was corroborated by the Chairman of the Water Management Board who stated that the over eight water catchment areas around the Fondom and beyond are in need of more trees.

The Greens donation falls within one of their projects “More Trees Please” conceived to plant over 70million trees across the world. The Greens will in the days ahead be organising a football tournament baptized “Conservation Champions league” to be staged at the St Paul’s Field mile 3 Nkwen.

According to Ngalim Franklin the champion’s league “is aimed at using football as a vehicle in conserving endangered and endemic species of the North West Region.”
