The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Essimi Menye has organised a preparatory meeting for resource mobilization against an international "Business Meeting" to be organised on 16 to 17 September 2015 in Cameroon.
Speaking during the preparatory meeting, the Minister noted a sum of FCFA 150 billion is needed at the end of the business transaction to completely transform the Cameroonian farms from cultivation to production.
The business meeting to be hosted in Yaounde will involve development partners as well as players in the national agricultural and rural sector.
According to the Minister the international gathering aims at mobilizing resources to finance the National Agricultural Investment Plan of Cameroon.
The National Agricultural Investment Plan was adopted in April 2014 to implement strategies of national priorities in agriculture and rural development.
It will be an opportunity for the promotion of the production and consumption of locally made products, an idea the Minister said will help in the modernisation of agriculture in the country.
The Minister used the platform to note that government is supporting the private sector to invest in the country so as to revitalise production and boast growth.
The Yaounde business meeting will further promote and encourage the production and distribution of seed, mechanization and commercialization of local products.
