Timid affluence of holiday makers at train station

The 2015/2016 school year is about wrapping up with official exams. Two weeks to the effective start of holidays for those involved in official examinations, a good number of pupils and students are travelling to different parts of the country to meet relatives and friends.

At the Yaoundé Train Station, holiday makers of different ages, some accompanied by their parents timidly arrive from different directions to book a journey.

At the check-in point every luggage is scrupulously searched before a travel ticket is purchased. Some of the travelers are hoping to relax awhile with relatives before going back to concentrate on studies.

A form five student of Queensway College Yaounde, Souck Premeir said who is travelling to Douala with his siblings said, they are travelling to Douala early enough so that he will have time to rest and relax with his cousins before returning to prepare ahead of the GCE as from the month of August.

Sasha Njiema of Form two is excited to travel by train to Douala to meet her grandparents and other members of the family.

Her Mother said she prepared the journey in July in avoid the last minute congestion which is recurrent in the month if July.

Another parent said travelling by train is a new experience for his children whom he expects to admire the rich and diverse ecosystem and train rails through different towns on its way to Douala.

Some passengers prefer going by train because they are sure the journey will last 3 hour 30 minutes and they will avoid the usual traffic jam at the entrance of Douala.

At about 10 am, when the intercity train from Douala stationed, passengers moved into either of the different wagons including the first, premium and third class depending on the ticket purchased.
