Truck driver dies in road accident

A truck driver reportedly died shortly after his vehicle crashed into an electric pole around the Kumba-Mbeng Junction in Kumba, Meme Division, Southwest Region on the night of September 12.

According to eyewitness accounts, the front axle of the truck failed resulting in the front tires coming off the vehicle which was on high speed.

The timber-loaded truck, bound for the economic capital, Douala, is said to have hit a billboard and an electric pole, without which the casualties would have been enormous. The truck driver later died in hospital.
