Turkey to assist Cameroon’s youth centres

Ambassador Murat Ulku made the pledge after meeting the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education in Yaounde on December 10, 2015.

In furtherance of the excellent relations between Cameroon and Turkey, the two countries are to step up cooperation in youth matters. Speaking in Yaounde on December 10, 2015, after meeting Mounouna Foutsou, the Minister of Youth Affairs, the Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Murat Ulku, said focus will be on two areas.

These are exchange visits and deeper cooperation between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, MINJEC, and the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports. The Ambassador promised to contact his Minister of Youth and Sports to visit Cameroon in the near future to discuss increased cooperation with his MINJEC counterpart. Turkey is also interested in helping to develop Cameroon’s Multi-purpose Youth Centres. A meeting is scheduled between the Cameroon office of the Turkish International Cooperation Agency, TIKA, and MINJEC officials in the coming days.

Minister Mounouna promised to chair the discussions and immediately directed the Head of Division for Cooperation and the Director for Studies of Projects to follow up the decisions. Earlier, Mounouna Foutsou introduced his senior officials, to his guest, explaining their duties. He also handed over copies of the ministry’s policy documents in various areas to the Ambassador.
