It happened in the Mvan neighbourhood on Monday, January 13, 2014.

The inhabitants of Mvan a, a Yaounde neighbourhood, are in a state of shock following a ghastly motor accident that claimed two lives and seriously injured one person on Monday January 13, 2014 at about 7:00 p.m.

Emmanuel Tiepme, 52, and Charles Eyinga Ntyame, 50, lost their lives in the accident that took place at the famous Tropicana junction while the motor boy (names unknown) had several fractures on the leg.

When Cameroon Tribune reporters arrived at the scene yesterday, January 14, 2014, only the ruins of the truck, empty crates, broken and empty bottles could be seen spread at the entrance to the filling station. Eyewitness accounts said a truck belonging to a brewery company was returning from Mbalmayo in the Nyong and So'o Division of the Centre Region after supplying drinks.

The truck with number plate TR 1164 B was descending the slope just before the Tropicana junction when it had brake failure. In an attempt to negotiate the bend leading to Ekounou, the truck fell pouring its contents on a taxi and killing one Charles Eyinga Ntyame who was standing by a call-box buying airtime. The owner of the call box (names unknown) escaped on seeing the oncoming tumbling truck. Our source said Charles Eyinga Ntyame had his earphones on hence he did not hear the noise around him.

Tiepme Emmanuel had his head crushed and his brain was only discovered in the gutter the following morning. The taxi driver, Mbe Max Charlot, 35, had no injuries but for slight pains in the chest. The victims were immediately rushed to the hospital where they were administered treatment.
