Two famous armed robbers Issa Amadou and Saidou Hassan were shot dead close to the Kumba main market by the Rapid Intervention Unit ESIR.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of the Central Police Station in Kumba, Francois Tekeutsa, the two have been associated with a number of thefts and for some time now been closely watched by security officials in Kumba.
Issah Amadou and his accomplice are believed to be the brains behind the attack at the petrol station in Buea Road Park that saw a lady robbed of the sum of 500,000 FCFA.
Mr Francois Tekeutsa told the Press that his boys were put on guard after information reached the police of an eminent operation to take place on Monday 15th September 2014.
The disguised policemen who arrived at the scene was fiercely attacked by the bandits. The exchange that ensued was a fatal one for one of the armed robbers. The second one also sustained serious injuries and later died in the hospital.
