They were driving back home from the Ngaoundere Protestant hospital where they went visiting Mohamadou’s pregnant sister-in-law before the terrible incident occurred.
A heavy old tree at the roadside provoked by a violent wind fell on their starlet Toyota Vehicle with the matriculated number AD 940 AJ while on motion.
Mohamadou and Al Stawabi died on the spot leaving behind a two year old girl Zara Sharifa as the lone survival.
Zara Sharifa who had sustained a mild head trauma and fracture on the right arm was rushed to the Ngoundere Protestant Hospital by the army rescue unit, the same hospital they had visited before the gruesome tree incident.
Medical officials attest that she is now doing well and free from danger.
The tree which also damaged the roof of a nearby house is one among many other ancient trees doted along the roadsides of Ngoundere.
This incident unveils the unworthy attitude of officials of the Ngaoundere City Council who are quick to cut down old trees only after horrible incidents like this occur.
