U.S Ambassador Lauds Anti-Corruption Fight

Robert P. Jackson had farewell discussions at the Supreme State Audit Office on September 23, 2013.

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Supreme State Audit, Henri Eyebe Ayissi has expressed satisfaction at the level of collaboration from the U.S. in the drive to promote good governance in the country.

He was speaking on September 23, 2013 in Yaounde as he received a symbolic gift from outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Cameroon, Robert P. Jackson. He had discussions with the U.S. diplomat at the end of his tenure in Cameroon. Roberty P. Jackson, handing over the gift to Eyebe Ayissi said he was not only grateful for the work he was doing to encourage transparency and good governance in Cameroon but was also pleased at his level of collaboration with the U.S. government.

He said he regretted he had to bid him farewell but was bound to. "Minister Eyebe Ayissi was the first person to welcome me to Cameroon in his former position (Minister of External Relations) and I came to tell him goodbye," P. Jackson said. He explained that he also came to discuss the work he has been doing to promote transparency and good governance in Cameroon.

The outgoing U.S. Ambassador expressed satisfaction at the work that has been done and which is still to be done, saying the U.S. was ready to strengthen collaboration in the anti-corruption fight. He talked of the possibility of exchange visits to reinforce good governance in both countries.

The U.S. government has been an active partner in the fight against corruption especially through the Change Habits-Oppose Corruption (CHOC) project which supports national actors in the fight against corruption.
