In a statement published on its website, the Regional Office of the United Nations for Central Africa (UNOCA), declared support for the Cameroonian armed forces who have been in over 8 months warfare against terrorists presented as members of an Islamist sect Boko Haram from Nigeria.

Faced with this war that is gaining grounds in Cameroon, Abdoulaye Bathily, the special representative of the UN Secretary-general and Chief Regional Office of UNOCA, considered that international pooling of the defence forces is essential to overcome the terrorists.

Following Paul Biya, the head of State of Cameroon who paid a glowing tribute to the armed forces of Cameroon in his message to the nation through Christmas and New Year 2014 and New Year 2015, Abdoulaye Bathily saluted the bravery of the Cameroonian armed forces who took over the Achigachia military camp in the Far North region, and confronted terrorists during the attacks from December 27 to 28.
