UNHCR assesses humanitarian needs of refugees and displaced persons

The United Refugee chief, Antonio Guterres is on a two day visit in Cameroon due to access Africa major displacement crisis Africa that has affected Cameroon adversel.

Mr Antonio Guterres will evaluate humanitarian needs of the displaced persons caused by the Boko Haram insurgency in the Far North of Cameroon and the former Central African Republic anti-seleka crisis.

The UNHCR says more than 70,000 Nigerians have crossed in to the Far North Region of Cameroon and 25000 others escaped clashes between regional military forces in North Eastern Nigeria.

Antonio Guterres will this Wednesday 25th March 2015 be visiting the Minawawo refugee camp in the Far North to evaluate the needs of the people.

It is worth noting that the UN refugee camp is hosting thousands of Nigerians displaced since the Nigerian terrorist sect, Boko Haram launched destructive activities in June 2014.

The High Commissioner will also meet with 96000 Cameroonians who are internally displaced due to crisis.

During an audience with the Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh on Tuesday 24th March 2015, Mr Antonio Guterres thanked the Cameroon government and correspondent partners for hosting thousands of refugees.
