US Embassy welcomes Cameroonian customs officials

The US Embassy in Yaounde has welcomed back to Cameroon four of seven Cameroonian Customs and Border Protection officials who were in Washington D.C and Southern California from August 9-16, under the US Customs and Border Protection, CBP, International Visitor Programme.

The Regional Security Officer, Jeffrey S. Rusinek, August 20, welcomed the Cameroonians in Yaounde in the presence of Police Commissioner, Jean Louis Messing; Senior Police Superintendent, Max Abbe Abbe; Senior Police Superintendent ZakariYaouAlhadj; Senior Police Superintendent, Marcelline Bilounga; Police Superintendent, Joel Engu Mbangah and Assistant Police Superintendent, Kinyock II.

Rusinek thanked the guests for participating in the programme, which he remarked, underscores the partnership between the US and the Republic of Cameroon to strengthen security cooperation.

“We are honoured that the programme provided you the opportunity to represent Cameroon among the American people and to expand your network of contacts in the United States. The United States is proud to partner with professionals like you and the Government of Cameroon to promote our common goals of strengthening security cooperation,” he said.

The programme included a meeting with senior CBP officials in Washington, D.C; observation of border security operations at the San Diego Border Crossing, Los Angeles International Airport, and the Los Angeles Port; and visits to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and US Coast Guard facilities in the Los Angeles area to discuss and share experiences relating to investigation, enforcement, maritime security and anti-piracy efforts.
