US Govt launch 'English Access Microscholarship' in CMR

The ceremony for the launch of the program 'English access', took place Wednesday in Yaoundé.

This second edition of the programme, "English Access Microscolarship", benefitted 40 students from four high schools in the city of Yaoundé who received their certificates of stock exchange.

Their poor background made them target of this programme which is fully funded by the US Government spread over two years. The training focuses on English and computer science.

It aims to bring young people to solid knowledge in culture and American English, to develop the appropriate tools allowing them to be artisans of peace. Training will also enable them to acquire the latest knowledge on the use of information and communication technology (ICT).

The official launch of this program took place in the presence of the Director of the language pilot Center (CLP), Guillaume Raphaël Tchebetchou and Gregory Thome, Senior Advisor and head of Deputy mission at the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon.

In his welcome remarks, Guillaume Raphaël Tchebetchou, expressed his pride to host this second wave of students, but rejoiced in the performances by the first vintage.

He explained that this program reflect the bilingual character of Cameroon and is intended to make these young people better equipped to face future challenges.

The American diplomat recommended that students work with determination, and stay diligent and focused, as these guarantees success. Students happily thanked the U.S. Government for the scholarships.
