The lifeless body of Matthieu Ngangoum, senior police officer in service at the Regional Delegation of national security (DNSR) in the East was found in his office on September 15.
According to Adamou Alioum, the regional delegate of national security for Eastern region, his collaborator was a hardworking man.
“He was always among the first to arrive at work on time. We sometimes meet at the stairs ways that lead to my office,” he complained. He added that Matthieu Ngangoum seemed ill last Tuesday. “Until around 10 am, we found that his office was still closed. This is unusual when he is there,” said Divisional Commissioner.
The Commissioner said after trying to contact him in vain on his mobile phone, a team went to his home in the Enia district, without success. Therefore, the elements of the police forced open his office door. “That is when we found the inert body of our colleague lying in his office, his pants half down,” noted one of the officers who took part in this operation.
With regard to the circumstances of this death, "the fact that the victim's body was found in a fallen position can be linked to sudden death", asserted the DNSR in the East, especially as “the medical examiner contacted noticed scratches on his tongue, as if it had been chewed by the victim before he died.”
At the regional delegation, sources disclosed that “he is always in uniform only in his office. After service, he gets back into civilian clothes before returning home. A way to say he surely died at the time where he was preparing to leave his service on Monday evening.”
According to other sources close to the victim, "the senior police officer, Matthieu Ngangoum, also suffered from diabetes. His body was deposited in the mortuary of the regional hospital of Bertoua.”
Still in the same neighborhood, September 16, 2015, a young man about 18 years old was found hanged at the Enia district. According to police sources, the young man who was later known to be a Muslim was unknown to the inhabitants of the said neighbourhood and no one was able to say accurately the causes of his death.
