The declaration was made by the Governor of the Region of the far North who was visiting along with military officials in the town of Maroua, Department of Diamaré, one of the stores for donations of "non-perishable" items essential for soldiers engaged against Boko Haram.
While he made the announcement facing the press after a meeting Monday, April 06, 2015 in the Conference Room of its services, he said "the time of the distribution of donations has come".
The Governor did not fail to insist on the fact that "the distribution of these foodstuffs and other products of necessities will aid the personnel on the ground".
In this regard, he announced that "with cash donation, a cheque of 44,125,000 FCFA was handed over to the general Treasurer payer (GPT) of Maroua, thereby respecting the terms of the circular letter of the Director general of taxation (DGI).
To reassure on transparency which will surround the vast operation of distribution of kind donations and the cash, the Governor Midjiyawa Bakary, after having thanked all donors for their gesture, noted that "there is no better place than the public Treasury to keep this money for our troops but the only obsession today remains the pacification of the region of the far North".
