Urban Affairs: Higher education strengthens professionalization

The conference room of the Ministry of Higher Education was the venue of the signing of a protocol agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development yesterday, March 21, 2016 in Yaounde. Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo signed for the Ministry of Higher Education while Jean Claude Mbwentchou signed for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Speaking at the occasion, Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo said the protocol agreement is a supplementary assert for the development of the country. The agreement, according to him, materialises the main option of the Head of State to professionalise teaching in State and private universities.

He explained that it is an agreement which is in line with the prescription of the Bachelors Masters Doctorate programme (LMD) that is, alternate training and a better professionalization of teaching in view of an adequate and efficient employability of the students. He expressed the wish that the agreement begins with the training of competent and competitive human resources in the different domains.

The purpose of the agreement is to strengthen professionalization of teaching of subjects in professional training and support on research in the domains of architecture, town planning and urban development and geographical studies in State and private universities and institutions of higher learning. Minister Fame Ndongo assured the participants of government's support in order to ensure the employment of youths in future. The meeting brought together representatives of State and private universities and institutions of higher learning from across the country.
