At the Yaoundé Nsimalen airport, travelers destined for foreign countries continue to be vaccinated against polio. At theYaoundé-Nsimalen international airport, the authorities continue to project a message on the screen indicating that Cameroonians departing for another country must be subject to the vaccination against polio.

Since July 03, a health team has been placed there and everyone goes there except those who have an up-to-date vaccination card. Affected by this measure are the residents and those who have already spent four weeks in Cameroon.

Today, according to Félix Essono, medical-sanitary engineer in service at the Centre of international vaccination in Yaoundé, the counter shows approximately 4000 people already vaccinated. "All the outputs are controlled at the beginning. The number of passengers to be vaccinated varies depending on the airlines," he said.

However, this staff is faced with some difficulties from passengers. "Some believe that the polio vaccine is only for children and therefore, find it suspecting. We must explain to them for a long time the validity of the process. Some passengers think that these measures must be applied to everyone without exception".

According to some indiscretions collected at the scene, a nurse was assigned disciplinary action in the northern region to have stood up to an extra ordinary passenger.

"Similar cases are rare because they are the measures imposed by the WHO and the Minister of Health and everyone must bend," reassures the staff.

The price of the vaccine remains at 1000 F; those who have no vaccination certificate pay 1200 F.
