The conduct of the twin elections in the region on September 30, 2013 was hitch-free.

Electors in Buea, yesterday 30 September 2013, turned out massively for the twin legislative and municipal elections. The double polls opened at 8 am with all necessary electoral materials put in place by Elections Cameroon (ELECAM).

The voters lists with passport photographs pasted on each polling stations for voters to consult their names, another placed in front of the polling commission for verification, ballot papers of contesting political parties, indelible ink, envelops indicating the nature of the poll and transparent ballot boxes were displayed before the opening of the voting exercise.

However, some polling centres in Buea Cameroon Tribune visited Monday morning, a few complaints of the absence of uncollected voters cards at the polling centres, while some other registered voters with valid voters cards could not find their names on the electoral lists. Cameroon Tribune also observed the presence of the representatives of the three political parties (CPDM, SDF, PAP) vying for the Legislative and Municipal elections in the Buea Urban constituency and the Buea Council.

By the time of going to press, the polls were peaceful with no incidence of violence reported. A heavy deployment of security forces was also noticed in polling stations while elections observers from Transparency International, Un Monde Avenir, Global Fund and Defense of Human Rights, Recontre Africaine pour la Defense des Driot de L'homme were abound in polling stations. South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai accompanied by his spouse dropped in their ballots at 11 am at the Appeal Court polling station in Buea.
