The National Executive Committee of the Wimbum Cultural and Development Association, WICUDA, has resolved to hold a grand cultural festival in Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division from December 26-28, 2014.
This was one of the key resolutions arrived at during the WICUDA’s executive meeting that recently held in Bamenda.
The President General of WICUDA, Henry Shey Nganji, appealed to all Presidents of the WICUDA branches nation-wide and WICUDA in the Diaspora, to mobilise funds for the support of the cultural festival.
“I am appealing to all WICUDA members, wherever they find themselves to, as a matter of utmost urgency; ensure that the resources reach the Organising Chairman soon.
We are going to showcase our culture that has not been polluted and those who will not make it to Nkambe shall live to regret,” he stated.
Addressing the two Councils that make up the Mbumland; Ndu and Nkambe, the WICUDA President appealed to them to pull resources towards for the cultural event.
“We are expecting Ambassadors, Ministers, Directors and more for this event. That is why I still hold strongly to the fact that the estimated budget of FCFA 10 million is too small,” Shey reiterated.
Calling on all Wimbum elite across the globe to be part of this maiden edition of MBUM Cultural fiesta, he said the Mbum people should go for what unites them rather than spend time on what divides them.
Shey said the National Executive is working in synergy with the traditional rulers to ensure that every village is represented by a dance group or two, and that, for the first time, some traditional dances that have never been exhibited will be exposed during the fiesta.
He said, apart from WICUDA cultural manifestations at home, there shall also be fresh elections to reorganise the National Executive Committee.
The WICUDA President General paid tributes to WICUDA-USA for being very instrumental in development projects in Mbumland, urging the population to encourage them to do more.
