Adamou Ndam Njoya, Chairman of the Cameroon Democratic Union.
"The convening of the Electoral College for legislative and council elections did not come as a surprise, but the Cameroon Democratic Union decries the fact that the elections were supposed to have held earlier. I think that any political party has to be ready at all times. We were not taken by surprise and as a political party, we have been doing this since 22 years.
A political party is there to hold leadership position which is only gotten through elections and to have this; it has to be ready always. Our country is undergoing changes, especially with the putting in place of the new Electoral Code and biometric registration which is a warning signal to us political parties that upcoming elections will not be like past ones. All we are expecting now is for the body in charge of elections to take all necessary measures to make sure that after the September 30, 2013 elections, no political party lodges complaints. "
