The pretext for the ceremony that took place at the Bafoussam III Council was the celebration of the 28th edition of the International Day of Rural women.
Municipal and Administrative Authorities by the collective marriage, were addressing one fundamental challenge faced by Rural Women, that of, lack of access to information.
Most of the women were not conscious of how important it is to have a union legalized.
One point of attraction during the ceremony was this 87 year old man who have been in union with his wife for decades without legalizing the marriage.
Some of the couples opted for polygamy true to the African tradition.
The couples all expressed gratitude to the Bafoussam III Council and the Delegation of Women's Empowerment and Family for the ceremony.
