What happened in France can happen in CMR- Guibaï Gatama

The Director of publication of the bi-weekly L’Oeil du Sahel, follows very closely the ongoing conflict in the far North. He feared that the terrorist sect Boko Haram which prevails on this side, would attacks journalists who are interested in these events just as the executioners of colleagues journalists at Charlie Hebdo.

Guibai Ganesan is known in Cameroon as the best journalist in the Boko Haram war in the far north of Cameroon. Over the days, the editor of the bi-weekly L’Oeil du Sahel, reports, through social networks and his journal, the situation in the front. He thus was moved with great concerned after the massacre of the journalist during the drafting of satire for Charlie Hebdo, French satirical weekly newspaper.

"The profession of journalist, we knew is dangerous, but not in this way. We have never seen a single editorial lose as much feathers under the pretext that the editorial didn't please some people. This shows that there is a job to be done to ensure that differences in opinion should be accepted even if it is religious in nature.

That is why what has happened in France can happen in Cameroon where the media deal with the issues of Boko Haram who, as a sect, has demonstrated a certain contempt for freedom of expression. From this point of view, those who cover this news may be seen as targets today or tomorrow.
